"We like to call these 5 great guys our resident rock band. You can guarantee a great night of classic rock will be the evenings entertainment. One member of our club said 'it was like being at a real concert!' We as a club always know when they've played on a Saturday night, the bar sales go up and a great night goes down."

The Other Guys are...

a group of musicians from Poole and Bournemouth who enjoy performing some of the most popular, well known and timeless songs to ever have emerged from the Classic Rock genre.

The band was originally formed as a four piece back in 2011. Les (Guitar), Matt (Keys) and Rob (Drums) remain from that line up. With the recent addition of Piotr (Bass) and most recently Daz (Lead Vocals), the band of the past has morphed into the band of today due largely to our present line up which has the ability to bring to the stage some of the most complex and intricate Rock compositions ever recorded. Our regular "without fail" attitude to rehearsals ensures that what you get, wont be far from "the truth".

We have a very active Facebook Page so please visit us at The Other Guys Classic Rock Band and LIKE OUR PAGE for regular gig updates, videos and more. Spreading this music to new and younger audiences as well as those people who, like us, have been fortunate enough to have grown up with it is what we will continue to do, so thankyou everyone for your support and we'll see you at a gig near you soon.

Daren “Daz” Marchbank: Lead Vocals

Age: Older than Matt but not as old as Les!

Influences: Roger Daltry; the songs he sings and the way he sings them suits my vocal style. Pink Floyd, The Who, Alter Bridge, Greenday.

Favourite singer: As a frontman, I think that Freddie Mercury was the best ever!

My Other loves as well as music are American muscle cars; I’m part of the Can-Am Car Club, and Tattoos, which I have plenty of!

I love singing with The Other Guys. We play great songs by great bands. I’m very happy to be fronting this band. They are like my second family.

Equipment: Sure wireless mic with Yamaha monitoring……Tattoos.

Daytime Job: Carpenter ... and more Tattoos.

Les “The Hat” Lawrenson: Rhythm & Lead Guitar

Age: Younger than Rob!

Equipment used: Paul Reed Smith Custom 22, Gibson Flying V, and Gibson Les Paul Studio, going into a Line 6 Helix, with Yamaha monitoring.
Influences: I grew up listening to the likes of Hendrix, Page, Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Angus Young and Gary Moore among so many others. I have always been drawn to the pentatonic blues played at a blistering speed within the hard rock idiom but with elements of modal scales thrown in to spice things up.
Favourite albums include: Powerage (AC/DC), Rainbow Rising (Rainbow), Led Zeppelin 1, Lights Out (UFO), Still Got The Blues (Gary Moore) and Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd).
Previous bands: VOI, playing original rock/pop material, in the early 90s, in and around London.

I love guitarists who put something of their soul into their playing, and I try to do the same with my work with The Other Guys.

Matt “Smudger” Smith: Keyboards/Backing Vocals

Age: Youngish!

I’ve been playing keyboards since very early childhood, but have never had a formal lesson. Throughout school I played drums up to grade 5, but keyboards were always my favourite instrument. For the last few years I’ve picked up a few things on bass guitar which I quite enjoy playing.

My musical influences range from classical composers such as Beethoven and Holst through to metal. Anything that has great keyboard work, orchestration and layered vocal harmonies makes my ears prick up.

Bands that I love are Queen, Pink Floyd and Dream Theater. I also like Muse, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Genesis, Yes and R.E.M amongst many others. Jeff Wayne’s War Of The Worlds is my favourite musical and I’m lucky enough to be able to play a track from this opus (The Eve of the War) with The Other Guys.

Favourite Keyboard players: Freddie, Brian and now Spike (Queen), Rick Wright R.I.P. (Pink Floyd), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Rick Wakeman (Yes), Paul Wickens (Paul McCartney band).

Equipment: Korg Kronos 73, Yamaha Motif XF7, Hammond SK1, Roland KC350 amplifier.

I love playing keyboards for The Other Guys. We play such a variety of amazing songs. My keyboard sound is just one piece of an awesome 5 piece puzzle which fits together perfectly!

Daytime Job: Gymnastics/Tumbling/Trampolining Coach
